Our History

Sylvan Heights Biodynamic and Vedic Farm was started by Mr. RG Abbhi in the year 1940 and conventional farming was carried on till the year 2000 after which it was decided to convert it into an organic farm.

Organic farming was started in the year 2000 after Mr. Subodh Abbhi was influenced by the call of Maharishi  Mahesh Yogi to start natural farming.  For this a search was made for a consultant and Dr. Sudhir Thimmaiah a PHD in Biodynamc farming from IIT Delhi was identified . He was invited to visit the farm and under his guidance Subodh Abbhi and Renu Abbhi converted this farm into a biodynamic and vedic farm.

Certification was granted by SKAL international in 2003. Subsequently SKAL was taken over by Control Union and thereafter the certification was entrusted to INDOCERT- a Kerala based agency.

In the year 2005 Ms. Karin Herschal a proponent of Agnihotra was invited to visit the farm after her presentation at the organic seminar hosted by the Uttaranchal government at dehradun and morning and evening Agnihotra was started at the farm from 1st January 2006.

Today, Mr. Subodh Abbhi, Renu Abbhi and their daughter Piyusha Abbhi run the family farm with a heartfelt dedication to sustainable biodynamic and vedic farming practices.
